A very common upgrade to any pistol is changing the sights. There are many options available. There are many considerations when making your choice. I recently replaced the sights on my Glock 19 to a set of XS Big Dot DXT2 Night sights.
There are several things I considered before settling on the XS sights. The first decision was the intended use. There are sights which are great for target shooting and other sights that are better for self defense handguns.
My Glock 19 is one of my self defense firearms. This gun has been used in many classes and is one of the weapons I carry every day. It is holstered on my side as I write this article. It is always with me and I pray I never need to use it. However, I also keep a fire extinguisher in my house hoping to never need it as well.
The tools we use to protect ourselves and our families need to be effective and reliable. Any pistol sight that I add to a self defense firearm must be one that is effective and reliable. I wanted a pistol sight that had better visibility in low light. The front sight post needs easily seen to help get a faster sight picture.
XS Big Dot Sights have been out for years and have a reputation among some in the firearms community. I must admit that I didn’t like them when I first saw them. However, the more I trained with my pistol I learned where the challenges were.
The more time I spend studying the difficulties I was having the more I understood the purpose behind the design of the XS Big Dots. When I learned they had released the DXT2 Night Sights I decided it was time to order a set.
I do not regret my decision in any way because they are a perfect fit for my needs. The front sight post is very noticeable and makes sight acquisition very fast.
