New Mexico Red Flag Law soon to become law

The New Mexico Red Flag Law has passed the legislature and is headed to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s desk. The governor has stated she plans on signing the bill into law.

Several democratic members of the legislature joined the republicans in opposing the bill. Unfortunately it still passed by a margin of 39 to 31.

According to local news outlets:

Senate bill 5 would allow law enforcement officers to petition a state district court to order the temporary surrender of firearms if a person is determined to be a risk to themselves or others.

The bill passed regardless that the majority of New Mexico counties have declared themselves Second Amendment Sanctuaries. Local government meetings have been filled to capacity with residents of the state voicing their opposition to gun control laws.

The majority of Sheriffs across the state also oppose the New Mexico Red Flag law. Lea County Sheriff Corey Helton told an audience he is ready to go to jail instead of enforcing any new gun control laws.

Helton said he’d be a one-term sheriff because a judge would place him under arrest. But he said he’d be able to sleep at night for standing his ground.

Democratic controlled states across the country are working to undermine the right of the people to own firearms. Anti gun politicians like Michael Bloomberg have been spending millions to get liberal politicians into office.

Gun owners must become politically involved in our communities to fight back against the attacks on our rights. The anti gun crowd will stop at nothing to take our rights away and they won’t stop with our guns.
