What is a Second Amendment Sanctuary County

Communities across the country are concerned about the growing threat to gun rights and are declaring themselves a Second Amendment Sanctuary. The threat to our right to own firearms is very clear in areas dominated by democrat controlled legislatures.

When a county or other local government declares themselves a Second Amendment Sanctuary, they are telling state and federal officials they do not support gun control laws that violate the Second Amendment.

These resolutions send a very strong message to state governments and are a direct result of grass roots organization by local residents. County government can also restrict local resources from being used to enforce new laws also.

City and county governments in many states are restricted from passing laws that govern firearms. State laws override local level ordinances and other regulations. However, a local municipality can pass resolutions that express their views on various issues.

The state of Virginia has become the center of attention from gun rights advocates following their latest election. Democrats recently took control of the entire state legislature with the help of one of the most anti-gun politicians in the country. Michael Bloomberg pumped millions of dollars into the state and helped get democratic candidates elected.

Red Flag Laws are one of the most common infringements proposed by various states and have been enacted by others. These laws allow for the confiscation of firearms in direct violation of due process of law.

Other proposed laws would ban magazines that hold over 10 rounds of ammunition or even ban some types of firearms such as AR 15’s. Democrats in these states are also trying to create gun registration in direct violation of the Fourth Amendment.

Every community in the country needs to pass their own Second Amendment Sanctuary Resolution to remind state and federal officials that we will not tolerate further infringements on our rights.
