Gov. Andrew Cuomo signs bill banning certain knives

The governor of New York Andrew Cuomo recently signed a bill banning certain knives. This law follows the same kind of logic liberals use when trying to push gun control.

According to the New York Post, The law, which takes effect Nov. 1, makes possession a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail. Only military members and police officers are exempt.

“Undetectable knives are meant to be used by trained members of our police and military forces for covert operations — not regular civilians attempting to sneak weapons past metal detectors,” Cuomo said.

Banning certain knives is another attack on freedom

This law is just another useless attempt to undermine the Constitutional rights of citizens. Ownership of a knife or gun is a freedom our ancestors fought to preserve.

Liberals are more interested in trying to control the lives of individual citizens. A law banning certain knives is another power grab by big government.

The bill focuses on knives that cannot be discovered using metal detectors or other security measures. It comes shortly after four people were stabbed in a California knife attack.

“Undetectable knives made with composite and ceramic blades are difficult or impossible to detect with current security equipment, according to security experts and knife manufacturers,” said Sen. Diane Savino.

“Such knives, sold openly and legally in retail stores, through mail-order catalogs and on the Internet, expose a major loophole, presenting a severe security risk to any building that utilizes a metal detector for the prevention of violence or possible terrorist acts. I thank my legislative colleagues for supporting this bill and applaud Governor Cuomo for signing this into law.”

Banning certain knives would not stop a criminal from doing someone else harm. This law like many others pushed by liberals is another waste of time.
