Kentucky Concealed Carry of Deadly Weapons (CCDW) Applicant Course

The Kentucky Concealed Carry of Deadly Weapons Applicant Course is a good way to learn the principles of firearms safety and marksmanship.  In the class you will also learn about the laws governing the carrying of a concealed weapon within the commonwealth.

The course consists of a minimum six hours of classroom instruction.  Following classroom instruction is a live fire exercise where the student shoots 20 rounds on a B21 target.

The class is designed to help students build their skills and the confidence to safely handle, store and operate a handgun.

There are many instructors across the Commonwealth of Kentucky who are certified to teach the course and qualify the applicant for a CCDW license.

You can obtain a list of qualified instructors in your area by contacting your local sheriff’s office and asking for the names of instructors in your area.

Some of the items you will need for this class include a reliable handgun and at least 50 rounds of ammunition.  You are also required to bring shooting glasses and hearing protection as well as a cleaning kit for your firearm.

The class is a great way to learn more about handguns and the laws of self-defense.  You will have the opportunity to see different types of handguns which you have never seen before.  As an instructor I enjoy teaching people about the different types of handguns that are on the market.  Conducting small classes gives me the ability to spend time showing individual students some detailed information that may help them in the future.

For example, I recently had a student who had very little experience with revolvers.  During the class, I spent some time showing him how to safely handle a few different models.

Kentucky Concealed Carry Classes are a lot of fun and a great way to meet new people with similar interests in firearms.

If you’re interested in taking one of my upcoming CCDW classes, you can preregister online and secure your spot.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me through this site.

Reasons to carry a Concealed Firearm

It is impossible to predict when someone may attack you.  Criminals do not give a warning to their victims before attacking them.  Law enforcement cannot respond fast enough to stop an attack in most cases.  We have a responsibility to protect ourselves until help arrives.

The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun.
